Tehiyah Day School's
30th Anniversary Gala

Jean Glasser

Jean Glasser taught the first group of kindergartners at Tehiyah, and she has been introducing young children to Judaic studies and Hebrew since then. Jean started her teaching career at the high school in Chicago she went to in the early 1960s, teaching English and biology. When she moved to the Bay Area in 1974, she decided to go back to her "roots." Her East European born parents were Hebrew educators, and Jean grew up speaking Hebrew at home. Jean had just finished her master’s in Hebrew/near studies and early childhood education at UC Berkeley when Tehiyah was founded.
